Russell’s medium tyre lap of 1m12.123s remained on top, highlighting a potential tyre strategy dilemma for qualifying. Norris ended up just 0.028s behind Russell, questioning which tyre compound would be optimal for one-lap performance. Among other notable performances, Fernando Alonso drew applause, while Max Verstappen made a timely recovery to finish ninth.
